Mercy Corps Mongolia successfully co-organized “Youth Voice Summit - 2019”

The two-day summit “Youth Voices 2019” was successfully organized with over 1,000 youths (ages 18-35) from across Mongolia participating in the event to openly discuss the topics on governance, political participation, democracy, corruption, and youth entrepreneurship.

Within this event, Mercy Corps Mongolia along with Mitchell Foundation organized the side event “Youth Entrepreneurship” session that included start-up business fair, “Young Business Entrepreneurs” panel discussion, and team project competition activity.

During the panel discussion, a young entrepreneur from Khentii aimag, N. Bilguuntur (director of “Art Margad” LLC) came to talk about interesting opportunities and business conditions in the rural area. In the meantime, 100 participants were grouped into 10 teams to compete in the “Imagine Your Rural Impact” Mercy Corps activity session that discussed the current challenges in the agricultural and livestock sector and 10 different business proposals were made using the Technology of Participation.

The winning proposal aimed to promote the traditional use of livestock manure and manufacture it into fertilizers and biofuel. The youngest participant from the winning team, Kh. Uguumur acknowledged the many entrepreneurship opportunities in the rural area; recognized the importance of youth participation as a solution to the socio-economic challenges and stated that he gained extensive knowledge of the challenges in the livestock sector.

Mercy Corps Mongolia want to express our gratitude to all the participants, judges, volunteers and co-organizers!
