Mercy Corps hosts the Livestock Sector Financial Inclusion & Business Development Workshop.

Mercy Corps Mongolia hosted the Livestock Sector Financial Inclusion & Business Development stakeholder workshop in Ulaanbaatar on January 29th, 2019. The project was implemented as part of the Resilient Communities Program which aims to build resilience for rural people and support livestock sector development. The workshop brought together over 100 representatives from the government, commercial banks, international organizations, and livestock sector businesses. During the workshop, current challenges regarding financial inclusion and business development in the livestock sector were discussed alongside recommendations moving forward.

The stakeholder workshop was the final event of the Financial Inclusion and Business Development Training project conducted by Mercy Corps Mongolia from April 2018 to January 2019. The program was implemented in partnership with the Development Solutions NGO in Bulgan, Selenge, and Khentii aimags. The project’s main focus was to improve the financial literacy, loan access and operational management of livestock sector businesses. The program successfully trained 264 businesses, facilitated MNT 570 million in loans, and assisted participants in developing a range of business management tools including business plans, mentorship agreements, and operational improvement plans.
